CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 12, 2024) — The Charlotte Planning, Design & Development Department has announced the release of three significant deliverables for Community Area Planning, marking the conclusion of the second phase of a five-part process over two years.
The revised draft of the Charlotte Future 2040 Policy Map, as stated by The Charlotte Planning, Design & Development Department, has been updated to reflect community comments and strategic planning efforts made during the Community Area Planning process. This Policy Map serves as a crucial tool providing guidance on the appropriate type and intensity of development across the city.
Additionally, The Charlotte Planning, Design & Development Department highlighted the importance of the Charlotte Future 2040 Policy Map Manual, which provides insights into the map's intended use and outlines procedures for potential amendments, ensuring transparency and accountability in the planning process.
The next phases of Community Area Planning, as mentioned by The Charlotte Planning, Design & Development Department, are set to begin in spring and fall of this year, with the final phase scheduled to start in winter 2025.
Encouraging ongoing community involvement, The City of Charlotte invites stakeholders to review the Revised Charlotte Future 2040 Policy Map and Manual. Feedback can be submitted online until June 12, 2024, with additional opportunities for review and feedback during fall workshops in 2024.
