CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 14, 2024) – The City of Charlotte's Solid Waste Services is currently grappling with ongoing delays in yard waste collection. This is largely due to the significant amount of debris left from last week’s storm, a situation that has been further complicated by current weather conditions. As a result, residents will experience collection delays in yard waste service.
Despite these challenges, Solid Waste Services remains committed to restoring regular service as swiftly as possible. Residents are requested to prepare their yard waste according to the Solid Waste Services collection guidelines and place their properly prepared yard waste curbside on their scheduled day. They are also advised to leave it at the curb until collected. Although collection may not occur on their scheduled collection day, the department assures residents that yard waste will be collected as quickly as possible.
Detailed instructions on how to properly prepare yard waste and other materials for collection can be found online on the Solid Waste Services website. Further updates will be provided as the situation progresses.
Solid Waste Services offers collection updates via text message. Residents who wish to receive updates regarding impacts to service can text their collection day to 73224. For example, if their collection day is Thursday, they would text “Thursday” to 73224.
