Defender Adilson Malanda reached a milestone with his 100th appearance for Charlotte FC during an away match against the Chicago Fire. Prior to training, both Malanda and Captain Ashley Westwood were recognized with framed jerseys to mark their achievements.
Malanda joined Charlotte FC on August 4, 2022, from French club Rodez AF in Ligue 2, where he had made 35 appearances. Since joining Charlotte, he has scored two goals and provided one assist over his 100 matches. His goals came in the opening games of the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
In the previous season, Malanda was part of a defensive line that conceded the fewest regular season goals in the Eastern Conference and the second-fewest across Major League Soccer. His contributions also supported goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina’s career-high number of clean sheets and helped Kahlina earn the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award.
On July 11, 2024, Malanda signed a contract extension with Charlotte FC through the 2026 season, including a club option for 2027.
“This is a Club that is perfect for my development as a professional footballer, and it’s the right place for me right now in my career,” said Malanda after signing his new contract.
