BHS Corrugated North America, a subsidiary of Germany’s BHS Corrugated Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH, has chosen Charlotte for its new North American Experience Center. This development is expected to create over 50 jobs in the coming years.

The BHS Experience Center, occupying 25,000 square feet at Rushmore Five in Ballantyne, represents a significant step for BHS as it aims to increase its market presence in North America. Scott Purrington, president and CEO of BHS North and South America, stated: “The BHS Experience Center embodies our vision for the future of customer engagement in the corrugated industry.” He emphasized the importance of Charlotte’s business environment and community offerings in supporting their growth.

Job opportunities at the center will span various fields including executive leadership, service, training, sales, parts management, IT, HR, and finance. The transition of key positions to Charlotte began in November 2024. Purrington noted that Charlotte’s talent pool has been instrumental in forming “a multifunctional and highly effective team,” with more than 25 new team members already onboarded.

The project was made possible through collaboration between Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. Mark Jerrell from Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners expressed support: “We welcome BHS Corrugated’s new North American Experience Center.”

The center is designed to enhance customer experiences with features like:

– The Service Command Post: A center using real-time data analytics for proactive customer solutions.
– The Equipment Showroom: A space offering interactive demonstrations with state-of-the-art machinery.
– The Training Academy: An educational hub providing advanced simulation technology and workshops.

Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles remarked on the significance of this development: “Their decision to open an Experience Center here shows how Charlotte stands out as a hub for both advanced manufacturing and innovation.”

Charlotte was selected after an extensive site search led by Vestian. Greg Krzysko from Vestian explained that they sought a location meeting BHS’s multifaceted needs. John Barton from Northwood Office highlighted that Ballantyne’s selection reflects its evolution as a premier mixed-use destination.

Charlotte hosts over 1,000 foreign-owned companies with Germany leading investments in the area. German firms employ more than 19,000 people locally.
