The Catherine M. Wilson Center lobby, located at 301 Billingsley Road in Mecklenburg County, will close to the public on December 31, 2025. The center’s customer service area has provided assistance for Medicaid applications, Food and Nutrition Services, energy aid, and other programs through the Economic Services Division.

Following the opening of the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center (CRC) in northeast Charlotte in 2023 and continued availability of the Valerie C. Woodard CRC in west Charlotte, these services are now accessible at multiple locations. The CRCs offer a range of support including child support assistance, public health services, veterans services, children’s welfare programs, domestic violence counseling, behavioral health resources, and MeckPreK.

“The services previously available at the Wilson Center are transitioning to the CRCs to join under one roof the other programs that residents rely on,” according to county officials.

Customers seeking these services can also use epass.nc.gov for online access at any time.

The building formerly known as the Wallace H. Kuralt Center was recently renamed as the Catherine M. Wilson Center and is scheduled for renovation for ongoing use by county staff.

In related context about local demographics, enrollment at Mecklenburg County schools dropped by 0.4% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year. The total number of students enrolled in that period was 153,537 (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/).
