Charlotte FC’s efforts to stage a comeback against Chicago fell short, resulting in a 3-2 defeat. The team found themselves trailing by three goals at halftime but managed to close the gap with two second-half goals.

Chicago scored all three of their goals within ten minutes during the first half, capitalizing on defensive errors from Charlotte. By the 33rd minute, Charlotte was facing a significant deficit.

In an attempt to turn the game around, Dean Smith made tactical changes at halftime. Liel Abada was replaced by Djibril Diani, who contributed significantly to Charlotte’s attack. Diani’s involvement led to Wilfried Zaha setting up Pep Biel for his sixth goal of the season. Biel then assisted Idan Toklomati for another goal, marking Toklomati’s second consecutive match with a score.

Despite narrowing the scoreline to 3-2, Chicago tightened their defense and prevented further advances from Charlotte. This loss marks Charlotte FC’s third consecutive defeat.

Looking ahead, Charlotte will return home after a month away and face Orlando City on July 5th. However, they will be without Wilfried Zaha due to suspension following a yellow card in this match. Three of their next four matches are scheduled at home.
