Classroom Central has announced the expansion of its Learning Locker initiative, adding three new locations in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. The expansion is supported by The David & Nicole Tepper Foundation, the Carolina Panthers, and Charlotte FC. The new Learning Lockers are now available at Northridge Middle School, Northeast Middle School, and Ridge Road Middle School.
A ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of these lockers was held privately at Ridge Road Middle School on October 6. The Learning Locker program began as a pilot in 2024 to address challenges faced by teachers and students in accessing free school supplies from Classroom Central. These lockers serve as on-campus supply hubs that allow teachers in high-need schools to discreetly stock up on academic and hygiene items for their classrooms throughout the year.
The recent expansion was made possible by a donation from The David & Nicole Tepper Foundation, which was announced in August. This support continues a long-standing partnership aimed at advancing educational equity across the Carolinas.
“Learning Lockers break down barriers for students and give teachers the tools to thrive,” said Karen Calder, Executive Director of Classroom Central. “With the support of The David & Nicole Tepper Foundation, Carolina Panthers, and Charlotte FC, 3,104 students will have the supplies they need to succeed—and teachers will have the resources they need to teach—every day of the school year.”
The Learning Locker initiative is part of Classroom Central’s broader strategic plan that aims to reach 104,000 students annually by 2029, serve 54% of eligible teachers, and distribute $14 million worth of free school supplies.
