Charlotte FC forward Idan Toklomati has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 33 after scoring his first career hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Inter Miami CF. The match, played at Bank of America Stadium, also saw goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina earn a spot on the Bench of the Matchday following his five-save clean sheet.

With this result, Charlotte FC tied the Seattle Sounders’ modern-day MLS record by securing their ninth consecutive victory and extended their unbeaten streak to ten league matches. The team currently sits third in the Eastern Conference with 53 points and is four points behind the Supporters’ Shield leaders. Their next fixture is an away match against New York City FC at Yankee Stadium on September 20.

Toklomati, 21, scored twice within a 13-minute span—first in the 34th minute and again early in the second half—before completing his hat trick with a penalty in the 84th minute. Wilfried Zaha won the penalty and allowed Toklomati to take it. This performance marks only the second hat trick in club history.

Toklomati has contributed either a goal or assist in each of his last seven matches, totaling seven goals and two assists during that period. He has also delivered game-winning goals or assists in six of those games. Since Patrick Agyemang’s transfer, Toklomati has scored eleven goals in thirteen MLS starts.

Kahlina continues to perform strongly as goalkeeper, recording his fifth clean sheet in six league matches and raising his season total to ten. He now joins only one other player who has achieved double-digit clean sheets this season and has accomplished this feat for two consecutive years. His five saves against Inter Miami brought his league-leading total to 112.

The full Team of the Matchday includes forwards Denis Bouanga (LAFC), Idan Toklomati (CLT), and Thomas Müller (VAN); midfielders Emmanuel Sabbi (VAN), Evander (CIN), Nectarios Triantis (MIN), and Diego Rossi (CLB); defenders Bernard Kamungo (DAL), Miki Yamane (LA), Alex Freeman (ORL); goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair (MIN); coach Jesper Sørensen (VAN). Bench selections include Kristijan Kahlina (CLT) among others.

“Toklomati garnered his first nod to Team of the Matchday in 2025; Kahlina named to Bench of the Matchday.”
