Charlotte FC has announced the signing of Australian striker Archie Goodwin from Adelaide United F.C. The 20-year-old forward joins the club on a three-and-a-half year contract that runs through 2028, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa. Goodwin will take up an international roster spot with Charlotte FC.
“Archie is coming off a strong first season with Adelaide United at just 20 years old and we can’t wait to see him carry that momentum with us,” said Charlotte FC General Manager Zoran Krneta. “His awareness within the box, willingness to run and attack spaces are a few of the top qualities we saw that made us want to pursue him. We want to see Archie develop and create good competition within our Club.”
Goodwin had a standout campaign in the 2024-25 season, scoring 13 goals in 26 matches for Adelaide United in Australia’s top division. He earned joint honors as the league’s Golden Boot winner after recording three braces and helping his team finish sixth in the standings.
Before joining Adelaide United, Goodwin began his professional career with Newcastle United Jets, debuting at age 16 on February 21, 2021. Over four seasons there, he scored eight goals and provided two assists across 46 appearances.
Internationally, Goodwin has represented Australia at the Under-20 level, making six appearances and contributing two goals during an AFC U-20 Asian Cup group stage match.
Charlotte FC confirmed that Goodwin’s transfer is subject to standard regulatory approval processes.
