Daimler Truck Financial Services USA LLC (DTFS) has chosen Charlotte, North Carolina, as the site for its North American headquarters. This move will result in the creation of 276 jobs and an investment exceeding $7 million in the Ballantyne area.
Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services, stated, “We’re thrilled to establish our new headquarters in the Ballantyne area — this move marks a pivotal step in aligning our team closer to DTNA and advancing our strategy for long-term services growth.”
The positions offered include roles in executive leadership, management, finance planning, operations, IT, sales, and human resources. The average salary is expected to be nearly $134,000. Of these positions, 83 will be relocated from other areas while 193 will be newly created in Charlotte.
Governor Josh Stein expressed his approval of the company’s decision: “I am pleased to welcome Daimler Truck Financial Services USA to North Carolina. More than 200 financial service companies call North Carolina home thanks to our skilled workforce and top-tier quality of life.”
The headquarters will be situated at the Boyle Building on Ballantyne Corporate Place. Mark Jerrell, Chair of Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners remarked that this decision “reinforces our position as a hub for high-paying jobs and forward-looking industries.”
Charlotte holds a significant position as the second-largest finance center in the U.S., with major banks such as Bank of America headquartered there. Mayor Vi Lyles noted that “companies like Daimler Truck Financial Services USA are drawn to Charlotte because of our deep talent pool and affordability.”
DTFS offers financing solutions for Daimler Truck North America (DTNA), known for producing Freightliner trucks among others. The new headquarters will consolidate offices from Michigan and Texas into a 60,000-square-foot space.
Daimler Truck’s presence extends throughout the region with operations in several nearby locations including Cleveland and Mount Holly. The establishment of their headquarters was facilitated by collaborations involving Mecklenburg County and various state entities.
Over the past year, Mecklenburg County and Charlotte have worked on multiple economic development projects resulting in over $170 million capital investment and more than 1,112 new jobs.
