Panthers rookie wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. reunited with former Colorado teammate Shedeur Sanders during a joint practice on Wednesday in Charlotte. Horn, who was wearing a microphone for the session, greeted Sanders before practice began. The two reflected on their shared experiences as college teammates before starting the day’s activities.

Horn and Sanders are set to meet again on Friday night when Browns coach Kevin Stefanski indicated that Sanders would start at quarterback in the preseason opener.

The relationship between Horn and the Sanders family extends beyond football. Colorado coach Deion Sanders, who coached both his sons Shedeur and Shilo as well as Horn, once referred to Horn as “my favorite son.”

“It’s going to be exciting to see him again, you know,” Horn said Saturday night after Fan Fest when asked about seeing his former teammate. “I can’t wait to see how he’s doing out there, like get to see him in person and stuff, so it’s going to be good to see him again.”

Horn also remains in contact with Deion Sanders, who recently disclosed he has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. “I text him like every other week,” Horn said. “I love coach, just to check in with him. It might not be too long of a convo, but it’s just a little small check up, you know, that could mean a lot to him and me.”
