Arizona State receiver Jordyn Tyson spoke on Apr. 10 about his lifelong competitive drive, family influences, and overcoming injuries as he prepares for the NFL draft. Tyson, the youngest of three brothers—including NBA player Jaylon Tyson—described how constant competition at home shaped his work ethic.

Tyson said that growing up in a competitive household pushed him to work harder. “That’s all we do is compete all day long,” said Tyson at this year’s NFL combine. “I was the baby, too, so they were never taking it easy on me. They were actually making it a little harder. And I had to work twice as hard to win.” He credited his brother Jaylon with giving advice about professionalism and consistency: “Just being a pro, being an everyday guy, making good decisions day-to-day…you got to earn your keep there and basically got to prove yourself every day.”

Despite injuries—including hamstring issues during a key game against Texas Tech—Tyson continued playing and contributed significantly by converting a fourth-and-2 for 33 yards leading to the game-winning touchdown. He addressed concerns about his injury history directly: “We play a physical sport…if you look at my track history, after every injury, I came back better than ever, I feel like.” Over nine games in 2025 he recorded 61 receptions for 711 yards and eight touchdowns; in 2024 he had career highs with 75 catches for 1,101 yards and ten touchdowns.

A major influence in Tyson’s development has been ASU receivers coach Hines Ward. Ward helped refine his route running skills over the past two years. “I feel like I’m a very quick player…But yeah, I feel like I can win on my feet in various ways,” said Tyson.

The Carolina Panthers have secured multiple division titles and playoff appearances according to the official website. The team also supports community outreach across North and South Carolina according to their official website, emphasizing both championship culture building and philanthropy as reported by their official site. Home games are played in downtown Charlotte according to their official website, where fans can purchase season tickets or single-game tickets along with premium seating options according to their official site.

Looking forward, Tyson stressed ongoing improvement: “Just getting one percent better each day…if I had to pick one [year], it’ll be this year because I just got increasingly better this year.”
