Luke Kuechly unveiled his Hall of Fame exhibit at the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Apr. 18, featuring not only jerseys and helmets but also personal items that reflected his approach to football.
The exhibit demonstrates the importance of preparation and attention to detail in Kuechly’s career, highlighting how hard work contributed to his success on the field.
Kuechly included one of his detailed notebooks from the 2019 season and a printout of an offseason workout plan among the items displayed. “One of my favorite parts of the game was the preparation side of it, so we prepared,” Kuechly said during a presentation. He described how he would begin preparing for each new opponent as soon as Monday arrived after a game. The notebook contained handwritten notes about plays, defensive concepts, reminders such as “positive mental attitude,” and specific instructions related to opposing teams’ formations.
Kuechly explained that writing things down helped him remember details better: “If I write stuff down, I remember it way better. And sometimes I write it down multiple times… if I write it down once, I’ll forget.” His locker display also featured an offseason workout plan created with Greg Olsen and one of his Q-Collars—a protective device inspired by woodpecker anatomy—which he wore after suffering concussions in previous seasons.
A jar of soil from Bank of America Stadium was another item in the exhibit. It was given by former defensive coordinator Sean McDermott as a reminder to “defend our dirt” during home games. “It just comes back and centers you… So I had that in my locker,” Kuechly said.
