The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners is set to hold a fall retreat on October 27 and 28, 2025, at the Valerie C. Woodard Conference Center in Charlotte. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and will include participation from the Board, County Manager Mike Bryant, and other county leaders and staff.

During the two-day meeting, commissioners plan to discuss priorities for the upcoming year and begin preparations for the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget. The agenda includes presentations on projects related to economic development, health equity and wellness, environmental stewardship, services for seniors, workforce development, and efforts to reduce racial disparities.

County officials will also receive updates on program reviews and conduct an in-depth assessment of the county budget. The agenda for the retreat will be made available online.

Members of the public can watch a live stream of the retreat on Meck TV at Watch.MeckNC.gov.

Recent data shows that enrollment in Mecklenburg County schools declined by 0.4% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/). In total, county schools enrolled 153,537 students in that same period (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/).
