Mecklenburg County is set to host the British American Business Network (BABN) Transatlantic Conference starting April 30. This three-day event, titled “Focus on the Future: Navigating the Demands of Tomorrow’s World,” will feature leaders from the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada discussing trade and investment.

Mark Jerrell, chair of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, will deliver opening remarks on May 1 at 9 a.m. He aims to present Charlotte-Mecklenburg as an attractive location for both new and established international businesses.

The conference will feature discussions among senior executives, decision-makers, and government representatives from the United Kingdom and the United States. They will address issues such as bilateral trade, investment, business flows, deregulation, sustainability, and the economic impact of sports. Speakers, panelists, and guests will highlight investment relationships among the countries involved.

Mecklenburg County will use this opportunity to showcase its economy and appeal as a destination for global business. The community, in collaboration with the City of Charlotte, has engaged in international projects involving companies like Siemens Energy, alpitronic Americas Inc., Albemarle Corporation, and groninger USA. These efforts have resulted in significant capital investment and job creation.

Additionally, Mecklenburg County recently marked the 30th anniversary of its partnership with Germany’s State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, aimed at enhancing business, cultural, and educational ties.
