Mecklenburg County is actively seeking one or two partners to provide outpatient mental and behavioral health services as part of its Behavioral Health Strategic Plan. This plan, released in 2024, was developed with input from providers, stakeholders, partners, and community members committed to enhancing mental health care.
The selected partner or partners will offer clinically qualified staff at the county’s Community Resource Centers located in north and west Charlotte and potentially other sites. Their role includes delivering short-term care for clients and facilitating longer-term and enhanced care when necessary. Services are expected to be available on-site during business hours, with additional support offered after hours via phone or virtually. The target demographic includes Mecklenburg County residents over five years old facing various life stressors and mental or behavioral health challenges.
Interested vendors can access the Request for Proposals (RFP) through the MeckProcure portal. The deadline for proposal submissions is July 7, 2025.
A virtual information session is scheduled for Monday, June 9, at 3 p.m., where interested providers can join via Microsoft Teams to learn more about the Behavioral Health Strategic Plan and the expected services.
The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners emphasizes health equity and wellness as a priority, acknowledging mental health as a significant concern for county residents.
County Manager Dena R. Diorio stated: “We know that individuals face challenges when seeking crucial support at various entry points to the system.” She added that the county aims “to improve access, enhance the quality of care, and foster better coordination across the landscape of behavioral health providers.” Diorio highlighted that “the overarching goal of the strategic plan is a future where mental health is prioritized, stigma is addressed, and resources are accessible to all residents.”
