The Carolina Panthers will field a new offensive line combination against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, following the announcement that starting center Cade Mays is inactive for the game. Austin Corbett, who began the regular season at center, will step into the starting role.
This adjustment marks the seventh different offensive line configuration for Carolina in nine games this season. Yosh Nijman is expected to start at right tackle, filling in for Taylor Moton. Although Moton was limited in practice with a knee issue and listed as questionable, he remains active for today’s matchup. Chandler Zavala, recently activated from injured reserve, will start at right guard.
At running back, Rico Dowdle is set to take over as starter for Chuba Hubbard.
Other Panthers players ruled inactive include outside linebacker Princely Umanmielen, wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, emergency third quarterback Mike White, tight end James Mitchell, and defensive tackle Cam Jackson.
To address depth concerns at outside linebacker after Umanmielen’s absence, Carolina signed veteran Trevis Gipson earlier this week and elevated Jeremiah Moon from the practice squad.
Quarterback Andy Dalton has recovered from a thumb injury sustained last week and will serve as backup to Bryce Young. Young returns after missing one week due to injury. According to league rules, Mike White can only play if both Young and Dalton are unable to continue due to injury.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales said: “The Panthers entered the weekend with six players listed as questionable on the injury report, but they’re all in uniform today.”
