Panthers announce roster cuts to reach NFL’s 53-man limit

The Carolina Panthers announced several roster changes on Tuesday to comply with the NFL’s 53-man roster limit. The organization released a number of veteran players, including wide receiver Hunter Renfrow and nose tackle Shy Tuttle.

Other moves included waiving running back Raheem Blackshear with an injury settlement and waiving-injured guard Ja’Tyre Carter. Defensive end LaBryan Ray was placed on injured reserve but remains eligible to return after missing at least four weeks.

Waived: WR Ja’seem Reed, TE Bryce Pierre, OL Jarrett Kingston, OL Brandon Walton, OL Michael Tarquin, DE Jared Harrison-Hunte, DT Sam Roberts, LB Maz Mwansa, CB Shemar Bartholomew, CB Michael Reid, S Trevian Thomas

Waived-Injured: G Ja’Tyre Carter

Waived – Injury Settlement: RB Raheem Blackshear

Released – Vested Veteran: WR Hunter Renfrow, DT Shy Tuttle, OLB Boogie Basham, LB Krys Barnes, LB Jon Rhattigan

Injured Reserve – Designated for Return: DE LaBryan Ray

These changes were made as part of the team’s efforts to finalize its roster ahead of the regular season. NFL teams are required to reduce their active rosters to 53 players before the start of the season.
