Panthers assign new jersey numbers to offseason veteran additions

The Carolina Panthers announced on May 7 that they have assigned jersey numbers to most of their veteran additions during the offseason.

This update is important for fans and team followers as it provides clarity on player identities and reflects ongoing roster changes. The team noted that “numbers are always subject to change, as players are switching more frequently than in the past.”

Among the notable assignments, outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips has taken No. 5, while linebacker Devin Lloyd will wear No. 55. There have also been several changes among existing players on the defensive line: Tershawn Wharton is now wearing No. 98, Cam Jackson has moved to Wharton’s former number 99, and Jared Harrison-Hunte is now in Jackson’s previous number 92. Running back Jonathon Brooks switched from No. 24 to No. 25.

Other new numbers include quarterback Kenny Pickett at No. 12, wide receiver John Metchie III at No. 13, quarterback Will Grier at No. 14, cornerback Tyrek Funderburk at No. 20, running back Dillon Johnson at No. 28, cornerback Michael Reid at No. 35, outside linebacker Nick Hampton at No. 39, linebacker Maema Njongmeta at No. 40, linebacker Bam Martin-Scott at No. 54, linebacker Jared Bartlett at No.56, guard Joshua Gray at No.67, tackle Stone Forsythe at No.73, center Luke Fortner at No.77 and tight end Feleipe Franks with number81.

The Panthers play their home games in downtown Charlotte and have secured multiple division titles and playoff appearances according to the official website. The organization extends its presence throughout North and South Carolina while supporting community outreach initiatives and philanthropy efforts according to the official website.

The team emphasized that these jersey assignments may still change before the season begins.
