The Carolina Panthers have reached an agreement with outside linebacker Nic Scourton for his four-year rookie contract. The deal was finalized on Saturday night.
Scourton was the last of the Panthers’ eight-man rookie class to sign. Across the league, only two players from the second round had signed contracts by Monday, July 15, but more have been finalizing deals as training camps near.
Scourton, a product of Texas A&M, was selected 51st overall in the 2025 NFL draft. He began his college career at Purdue, where he recorded 72 tackles, 12 sacks, and two forced fumbles over two years. In his single season with Texas A&M, he achieved 37 tackles, including a team-leading 14 for loss and five sacks.
The Panthers also drafted Princely Umanmielen in the third round. General Manager Dan Morgan expressed enthusiasm about both players’ potential contributions on the field.
“(These) are two guys that we think very highly of,” Morgan said. “They can get to the quarterback, they can play the run, and they can do all the things that we’re going to ask them to do. So yeah, we’re just super excited and didn’t think we’d be able to get both of them, so to be able to capitalize and trade up and get these guys, we’re just super excited about it.”
The signing comes as Carolina prepares for training camp set to begin on Wednesday, July 23.
