The Carolina Panthers are set to sign quarterback Bryce Perkins for the final week of the preseason, according to several reports. Perkins, 28, was named MVP in the United Football League and previously played with the Los Angeles Rams from 2020 to 2022. During his time with the Rams, he appeared in five games and started once.

The move comes after backup quarterback Andy Dalton exited Saturday’s preseason game early due to a right elbow injury. Jack Plummer completed the remainder of that game as quarterback. With starting players not expected to participate in Thursday’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, team officials determined they needed another quarterback on their roster.

As of now, no corresponding roster changes have been announced by the Panthers.
