Now that July has arrived, the countdown to training camp and the 2025 season is officially underway. It’s an opportune moment to review what the Carolina Panthers’ opponents have done in the offseason, beginning with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Panthers will face the Seahawks in Week 17 in Charlotte. Historically, the Seahawks lead the all-time series against the Panthers with a record of 9-4 overall. In Charlotte, they hold a 5-3 advantage, while at their home ground, they lead 4-1.

The last encounter between these teams was during Week 3 of the 2023 season when Seattle secured a 37-27 victory at home. During that game, Andy Dalton stepped in for injured rookie Bryce Young. The Panthers faced challenges on defense as several key players were sidelined due to injuries.

In terms of rankings and results from last year, Seattle finished with a record of 10-7. They ranked 14th in both total offense and total defense.

This offseason saw significant personnel changes for Seattle. Key additions through free agency include quarterback Sam Darnold, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, offensive tackle Josh Jones, and wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Their draft picks included guard Grey Zabel, safety Nick Emmanwori, tight end Elijah Arroyo, and quarterback Jalen Milroe.

After trading quarterback Geno Smith to the Raiders and releasing Tyler Lockett, Seattle brought in Sam Darnold as their new quarterback. Cooper Kupp’s arrival aims to mentor Jaxon Smith-Njigba and bolster their offensive play under new coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Defensively, Seattle retained linebacker Ernest Jones IV and defensive tackle Jarran Reed but parted ways with many from their famed Legion of Boom era.

Looking ahead to 2025, there is anticipation around how Darnold will perform after his mixed stint with Carolina where he achieved an 8-9 record over two seasons. Despite offensive turnover for Seattle this year, they return ten starters from a strong defensive lineup that excelled late last season.

Both franchises share historical ties; notably Dave Canales and Dan Morgan have Super Bowl rings from their time with Seattle. It remains to be seen how both teams progress by Week 17 when they meet again on field conditions that could reflect their respective momentum gains throughout this season.
