Now that July has arrived, the focus shifts to training camp and the upcoming 2025 NFL season. This is an opportune time to review what the Carolina Panthers’ opponents have done in the offseason, starting with the Arizona Cardinals.

The Panthers will face the Cardinals in Week 2 on September 14 at 4:05 p.m. in Arizona. Historically, the Panthers lead the all-time series against the Cardinals with a record of 15-6, including a 9-4 advantage in Charlotte and a 6-2 lead in Tempe and Glendale.

In their last encounter during Week 16 of last year, the Panthers secured a 36-30 overtime victory. Key performances included Chuba Hubbard’s two touchdowns and rookie safety Demani Richardson’s crucial late interception. Quarterback Bryce Young also outperformed his counterpart Kyler Murray by rushing for a career-high 68 yards and scoring one touchdown while throwing two more.

Last season, the Cardinals ended with an 8-9 record, ranking 11th in total offense and 21st in total defense. Their offseason saw significant personnel changes. In free agency, they added outside linebacker Josh Sweat, defensive end Calais Campbell, linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither, defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, quarterback Jacoby Brissett, and wide receiver Zay Jones. The draft brought defensive tackle Walter Nolen, cornerback Will Johnson, defensive tackle Jordan Burch, and linebacker Cody Simon into their ranks.

A notable move was extending tight end Trey McBride’s contract for four years at $76 million after he caught 111 passes last year. General Manager Monti Ossenfort also invested heavily in free agency by signing pass-rusher Josh Sweat from Philadelphia Eagles.

Looking ahead to this season, expectations are high for Marvin Harrison Jr., who had a promising rookie year with 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns. Running backs James Conner and Trey Benson remain vital to their offense; Conner’s absence due to injury was felt during their previous matchup with Carolina.

By signing veteran Calais Campbell—who has played more games than any current Panther—the Cardinals add experience to their lineup as they prepare for another challenging season.
