The Carolina Panthers have announced the signing of Colin Granger, bringing him on board as a tight end. Granger, a former Division I basketball player, is making a notable transition to the sport of football with this opportunity.

Granger has an extensive basketball background, having played as a center for five years. He began his collegiate athletic career with Ohio University, spending two years with the Bobcats. Following his tenure there, he moved to the Carolinas, spending two years at Western Carolina University before concluding his time at Coastal Carolina University.

Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 245 pounds, Granger is embarking on his first professional experience in football. During his basketball career, he achieved a field goal percentage of 52.3% and recorded a total of 322 rebounds, with 137 of those occurring in his final year at Coastal Carolina.

With Granger’s addition, the Panthers’ roster of tight ends now totals six members. He will be joining the ranks alongside teammates Tommy Tremble, Ja’Tavion Sanders, Jordan Matthews, James Mitchell, and Dominique Dafney. This new mix of players sets the stage for the team’s strategic developments.

Granger’s transition is anticipated to bring a fresh dynamic to the Panthers, as he applies his skills and athleticism from basketball to his new role on the football field. “The Carolina Panthers signed Colin Granger on Monday,” confirming this unique path for the former basketball player.
