The Carolina Panthers have adjusted their defensive lineup by signing outside linebacker Trevis Gipson from the San Francisco 49ers practice squad and waiving defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy. The move comes as the team looks to address depth issues at outside linebacker following a season-ending back injury to Patrick Jones II.

Gipson, 28, brings experience with 59 career games and 11.0 sacks. He played three games for the 49ers this season, recovering a fumble. Gipson was originally drafted in the fifth round by the Chicago Bears out of Tulsa and has also been part of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks rosters. His most productive period came with the Bears, where he recorded 10 sacks over two seasons.

Crumedy, who was selected in the sixth round last year, has alternated between the practice squad and active roster during this season.

In addition to these changes, rookie offensive tackle Michael Tarquin has rejoined the Panthers’ practice squad after being released last week. To make space for Tarquin, cornerback Michael Reid was released from the practice squad.
