Charlotte FC midfielder Pep Biel has been recognized for his performance against Atlanta United by being named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 26. Biel’s contribution included three goals, marking his fifth selection this season and third in the last four matchdays. Teammate Wilfried Zaha also received recognition with a bench selection after contributing two goals.
The team, known as The Crown, is currently on a winning streak of three consecutive matches and remains unbeaten in their last four games. This achievement ties their longest winning streak for 2025.
During the match against Atlanta United, Charlotte FC was trailing at halftime but managed a comeback with Biel playing a crucial role. He assisted Kerwin Vargas in setting up Idan Toklomati for an early second-half goal. Biel later set up Zaha for another goal before completing the comeback himself with a goal in the 77th minute.
Biel’s performance has increased his total goal contributions to 22 (10 goals and 12 assists) over 23 regular-season matches, placing him fourth in MLS standings for goal contributions. His two assists during the match brought his career total to 15, making him Charlotte FC’s all-time assist leader.
Zaha has consistently contributed to Charlotte’s success with seven consecutive matches involving at least one goal contribution. He now holds six goals and eight assists this season, with five of those assists being game-winning ones, establishing him as the club’s all-time leader in game-winning assists during regular-season play.
