Senator Thom Tillis, representing North Carolina, shared a series of posts on his social media account between November 10 and November 11, 2025. The tweets addressed the U.S. Marine Corps’ legacy in North Carolina, ongoing negotiations over credit card interchange fees, and Veterans Day commemorations.
On November 10, Senator Tillis recognized the long-standing service of the U.S. Marines and highlighted North Carolina’s role as host to several key military installations: “For 250 years, Marines have stood strong in defense of freedom serving with courage, honor, and unwavering commitment to our nation. North Carolina is proud to be home to Camp Lejeune, MCAS Cherry Point, and MCAS New River, where the @USMC continues to uphold a proud and enduring”.
The following day, he commented on developments involving major payment networks: “I appreciate Visa and Mastercard’s continued efforts to reach a settlement on interchange fees. Today’s announcement would provide small businesses with more flexibility to negotiate which cards they accept, while also enacting limits on interchange rates for the next several” (November 11).
Also on November 11—Veterans Day—Senator Tillis honored those who have served in the armed forces: “Today, on Veterans Day, we come together as a nation to honor and thank the brave men and women who have served our country. For generations, our veterans’ service and sacrifice have safeguarded the freedoms we cherish and strengthened the fabric of our nation. More than 800,000”.
Senator Tillis has held his seat since winning closely contested elections in both 2014 against Kay Hagan (48.8% vs. 47.3%) and in 2020 against Cal Cunningham (48.7% vs. 46.9%).
