On May 9, Senator Tillis expressed appreciation for international collaboration in maritime security: “Grateful to our British allies for their support in maintaining freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Before joining the Senate as North Carolina’s representative—a role in which he has advocated for improved health care access for rural residents and veterans—he served as speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives where he worked on budget balancing and tax reforms. His background also includes private sector roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM.
