A number of Carolina Panthers players will be wearing different jersey numbers as they take the field for practice on Wednesday.

Defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton, who joined the Panthers as a free agent this offseason, is changing his number to 99. Wharton previously wore 92 during offseason activities and had worn 98 while playing for the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season with the Chiefs, he recorded 8.5 sacks. The number 98 is currently assigned to D.J. Wonnum on the Panthers roster.

With Wharton moving to 99, rookie defensive lineman Cam Jackson will now wear number 92 instead of the 55 he used in preseason games. This aligns him with other linemen who wear numbers in the 90s range.

Rookie outside linebacker Princely Umanmielen has also changed his jersey, switching from number 33 to number 3.

Earlier in the preseason, rookie kicker Ryan Fitzgerald moved from number 35 to number 10 and wore that new number during Monday’s practice session.

“You can see all the jersey numbers and the full roster here.”
