5,476 residents die of unintentional injuries in North Carolina in 2016

There were 5,476 North Carolina residents who died of unintentional injuries in 2016, a 9.7 percent increase over the previous year, according to data obtained from the National Center for Health Statistics.

In 2015, 4,991 North Carolina residents died of unintentional injuries.

The National Center for Health Statistics is the nation’s primary health statistics agency. The CDC and other health-related organizations can use NCHS data for a variety of ends.
