TOWN OF MOORESVILLE: Mooresville Police and Fire Academies

Town of Mooresville recently issued the following announcement.

MOORESVILLE POLICE AND FIRE ACADEMIES

Residents can get an inside glimpse into the inner workings of both the Mooresville Police Department and Mooresville Fire-Rescue at their upcoming Citizen Academies, starting in March.

Police Academy

The MPD Citizens Academy will start March 3. The 12-week course will be held from 6-9 p.m., with graduation on May 19.

The classes will be taught by Assistant Chiefs Cooke and Henderson, and will include hands-on scenarios like mock crime scenes, K-9 demonstrations, use of force training, and court preparation and presentations. Dinner will be provided.

Applications for the MPD Citizens Academy are available at https://mooresvillenc.gov/258/Police-Forms and should be turned into the police department either by mail or in person.

Applicants for the academy must be 18 and over and are subject to passing a background check.

Fire Academy

The ten-week Citizens Fire Academy kicks off on March 19, and is open to all Mooresville residents and business employees who are at least 18 years old. The classes will be held on Thursday nights from 6-9 p.m.,

and dinner will be provided.

Activities for the Fire Academy include touring ECOM, observing active fire operations, learning about the Fire Marshal’s office and participating in HAZMAT activities. At the culmination of the course, participants will have a graduation ceremony held at a Town Board meeting.

Academy applications are available online in online forms or at any station.
