Atrium Health Care issued the following announcement on Mar. 28.
With much of the Charlotte region already under a county-mandated stay-at-home directive and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper implementing similar restrictions on a statewide basis, Atrium Health is expanding it visitor restrictions to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses, including coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). During this declared state of emergency in North Carolina because of the virus, Atrium Health is taking this additional step to further protect the health of our patients, their loved ones and our medical staff, as well as allow for conservation of personal protective equipment and other resources.
Effective 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020, no visitors will be allowed in the hospital, with a few exceptions.
- One patient visitor for patients having a baby.
- One patient visitor for patients at the end of life/imminent death.
- One patient visitor for those requiring a healthcare decision maker or to help in communication or mobility.
- Up to two patient visitors (parents/guardians) for minor patients less than 18 years of age.
The patient’s care team and the attending physician will work with families who have special circumstances, such as a critically ill or injured family member, on a case-by-case basis.
