Centene Corporation is planning to invest more than $1 billion and create 3,200 jobs at a technology hub it intends to build in the Charlotte area.
The technology center will reportedly serve as a hub and East Coast regional headquarters for Centene Corporation, a Fortune 50 managed care services provider for public and private health plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, VA insurance and private insurance plans, a post on the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance website said in July.
Centene committed to bringing 3,237 jobs to the Charlotte region with its new Mecklenburg County facility, notching it as the largest job generation project in the 18-year tenure of the Job Development Investment Grant program (JDIG), the report on the Business Alliance website said.
"We chose Charlotte as the home to our East Coast headquarters because we believe it will enable us to continue our strong growth and our mission to serve the most vulnerable populations," Michael F. Neidorff, Chairman, President and CEO of Centene, said, the Business Alliance reported.
Centene reportedly serves over 23 million Americans as well as residents of Spain, the United Kingdom and Slovakia.
