CITY OF CHARLOTTE: Anticipates Increase of Visitors to Uptown

Tourist

City of Charlotte issued the following announcement on Aug. 5.

The City of Charlotte's Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) are anticipating an increase of visitors to the Uptown area as special events continue with the Carolina Panthers Fan Fest on Friday, Aug. 6. CDOT and CATS officials encourage visitors to consider traffic impacts and plan their trip ahead of time.

"Our goal is to ensure that everyone traveling to and from these areas is well equipped with the information they need to get around safely," said CDOT Director Liz Babson. "During this time, our road closure notices and closure map, currently only updated during the week, will transition to daily updates expanding access to new information on weekends."

City officials encourage alternative transportation options including walking, biking, ride-sharing and public transit.

CATS will increase frequency in the LYNX Blue Line light rail for two hours before the start of Fan Fest and future football games. Transit officials will monitor crowds and adjust service levels as needed.

In compliance with the current Transit Security Administration (TSA) mandate, all riders must continue to wear face masks while on board transit services.
