Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department issued the following announcement on June 6.
Congratulations to Central Division Officer G. Reece! He was recently honored by the Dilworth Rotary Club as a First Responder of the Year. In October of 2021, Officer Reece responded to a suicide threat call for service. A woman had barricaded herself in her apartment located several floors above street level. Officer Reece heard a commotion inside and kicked a door open and pulled the woman from a window ledge to safety. Just three months later, Officer Reece saved another life when he rushed a gunshot victim to the hospital in the back of his patrol car due to the seriousness of the injuries and the need for immediate treatment. His split-second decisions have saved lives and he’s a true hero in our community. Way to go Officer Reece!
