Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 7.
We know there are many in our community in need of help feeding their families! The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department wants to do our part to help! Beginning, Monday, November 7, three of CMPD's Division Offices will launch the inaugural, 'Operation Food Fight' food drive! Our South Division, University City Division & North Division Patrol Offices will compete to collect the most food for three local food banks. All donations can be dropped off at the address of one of the three participating division offices.
Drop Off Locations: South Division: 11217 Providence Road West (Donations will go to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina
University City Division: 8452 North Tryon Street (Donations will go to Camino Community Center)
North Division: 10430-R Harris Oaks Boulevard (Donations will go to Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays)
Operation Food Fight will run until November 18th. Once the drive ends, officers from the participating patrol divisions will distribute the donations to the three local food banks ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
