The day before Shanquella Robinson would have turned 26, family and friends made another push for justice.
Robinson, who was from Charlotte, was killed while on vacation more than two months ago in Cabo, Mexico. Mexican authorities have put out an arrest warrant for one of her friends who accompanied her on the trip.
“They can’t silence her; they can’t silence us,” Bobby Collins, one of Robinson’s best friends, told WBTV 3 News. “You know, justice will be served.”
Family and friends gathered Sunday at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens in Huntersville to remember her, to release balloons in her memory and to keep the spotlight on investigation, which is being handled by both Mexican authorities and the FBI. Her birthday would have fallen on Monday.
The call for justice remained just as loud after weeks of outrage as it was when the tragedy first happened. Robinson arrived in Cabo on Oct. 28 and died one day later. Conflicting information has come out about her death, prompting some of the frustration regarding the case.
Pam Quick, who has been a friend of the family since Robinson was 4 years old, is confident that one day the case will be solved.
“I know she going to get her justice,” Quick told WBTV 3 News. “I know she will. And I’m going to pray for that every day. I’m going to pray on that."
