City of Charlotte issued the following announcement on March 7.

The City of Charlotte is commemorating the work of the city's Legacy Commission and a documentary film about our work. This new documentary by Loyd Visuals exhibits the year-long effort to rename nine streets in Charlotte that honored slave owners, champions of the Confederacy and proponents of white supremacy.

The commemorative event, hosted by the Charlotte Museum of History, will begin at 6 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, February 28 and will include the 25-minute documentary and a featured speaker's panel.

The film showcases the work of the City of Charlotte, in collaboration with the Legacy Commission and our community to reflect our city's values of inclusivity and diversity. This work began with the mayor's charge to form a Legacy Commission, which has evolved and come full circle thanks to our community.

The public can watch the event on the Gov Channel (Spectrum Cable channel 16) and City's Facebook and YouTube channels. The documentary will continue to be shown on the Gov Channel over the next several weeks. Follow the city's social media channels on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for broadcast schedules.
