Census Bureau: 76.6% of people in Mecklenburg County were old enough to vote in 2021

Of the 1,100,984 citizens living in Mecklenburg County in 2021, 76.6% were old enough to vote, equating to 842,749 individuals, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26.

Further breakdown reveals that of the voting-eligible population, 400,554 were male, constituting 47.5%, and 442,195 were female, making up 52.5%.

The percentage of citizens old enough to vote in Mecklenburg County during 2021 was lower than the state average, which stands at 77.8%.
