Spring has sprung in Charlotte, and residents are gearing up to embrace the new season. The 6th annual Charlotte-Mecklenburg Creek Week is currently underway, offering a variety of volunteer and educational events to celebrate the city's waterways.

As part of the festivities, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, Keep Charlotte Beautiful, and Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation are hosting multiple stream cleanups to engage the community. Residents are encouraged to participate and deepen their appreciation for the local environment. One event participant expressed their excitement, stating, "The 6th annual Charlotte-Mecklenburg Creek Week is in full swing."

In addition to the organized cleanups, residents are also encouraged to take personal initiatives in beautifying Charlotte. Keep Charlotte Beautiful (KCB) offers support for individuals hosting their own cleanups, providing necessary supplies and volunteer information. Those interested can request materials and find out more online.

With the arrival of spring, many are focusing on yard maintenance. It's essential to adhere to yard waste guidelines, ensuring materials are prepared correctly for collection. Residents are reminded to use paper yard waste bags or reusable containers within specified weight limits when disposing of leaves and grass clippings. Those in need of supplies can obtain paper bags at 1200 Otts St. during specified hours.

As part of the seasonal cleaning process, residents are also reminded of the proper disposal methods for bulky items. Household furnishings, appliances, mattresses, and other large items not suitable for regular trash or recycling collection must be scheduled for bulky item collection. Scheduling can be done through various channels, including calling 311 or 704.336.7600, using the CLT+ app, or arranging online.

The community is encouraged to participate in these initiatives to welcome the new season and contribute to keeping Charlotte clean and beautiful.
