Senator Thom Tillis released a statement today regarding the replacement of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, made possible by a $242 million grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). Senator Tillis played a key role in negotiating, writing, and passing this legislation.
“The replacement of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge is a critical investment in Wilmington’s infrastructure and a shining example of how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is benefitting North Carolina. I’m grateful to city and county officials, including Mayor Saffo, the New Hanover County Commissioners, and other local officials, for their partnership in pushing for the bridge replacement. I was proud to support the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and I’m grateful to the Members of Congress, especially my Republican colleagues, who worked together and cast partisan politics aside to pass this historic legislation. This investment is only possible because of bipartisan leadership at the federal, state, and local level focused on delivering results for North Carolina,” stated Senator Tillis.
