Senator Thom Tillis and his colleagues have introduced the No Visas for Violent Criminals Act, a legislative proposal aimed at terminating visas and mandating deportation within 60 days for any non-citizen convicted of criminal offenses during protests.

“The United States should have a zero-tolerance policy for non-citizens who intentionally break the law during violent protests,” said Senator Tillis. “This legislation makes clear that simply having a green card doesn’t give anyone the right to engage in violent demonstrations that break our laws.”

The proposed act would immediately terminate any visa and require deportation within 60 days for non-citizens convicted of specific offenses. These include obstruction of highways, roads, bridges, or tunnels; conduct-related offenses during protests at institutions of higher education or religious institutions; defacement or destruction of federal property, including monuments and memorials; and any aggravated felony as defined by U.S. law (8 U.S.C. § 1101 (43)).

Full text of the bill is available online.
