Senator Thom Tillis and his colleagues have introduced the Ensuring Continuity in Veteran’s Health Act, a legislative measure requiring the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to consider continuity of healthcare when determining if it is in a veteran’s best medical interest to see a community provider.
“Our veterans deserve the best care possible,” said Senator Tillis. “This commonsense legislation allows veterans to continue care with their own trusted providers and cuts harmful red tape that prevents veterans from accessing the care they deserve.”
The initiative addresses concerns arising as the VA opens new facilities, leading many veterans to lose access to the VA’s Community Care Program and their long-term healthcare providers. This issue has been reported by veterans across the country, including those in North Carolina.
