Crown Legacy FC goalkeeper Chituru Odunze has been selected to participate in Goalie Wars during the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge presented by AT&T. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio.
Odunze, 21, will compete against three other MLS NEXT Pro goalkeepers in a single-elimination competition. During three 90-second rounds, each goalkeeper will defend his own net while attempting to score on his opponent by throwing, kicking, or drop-kicking the ball.
The other competitors are Stas Lapkes from Columbus Crew 2, Jean Antoine from Chattanooga FC, and Michael Collodi from North Texas SC. The winner will receive a unique Goalie Wars Championship Belt.
Odunze has played a crucial role in Crown Legacy FC’s performance during the first half of the 2024 season. Acquired late in Crown Legacy’s 2023 season from Leicester City where he participated in their U18 and U21 programs, Odunze has started ten matches this season. The 6’7” quad-national has recorded 32 saves and won two shootouts.
Crown Legacy FC currently ranks seventh in the Eastern Conference with 26 points and a goal difference of +3.
Last year’s Goalie Wars champion and CLFC goalkeeper Isaac Walker will be present at this year’s event to help crown the next champion along with other special guests.
