Crown Legacy falls to Chattanooga in penalty shootout

Crown Legacy FC returned home to face Chattanooga FC, ultimately securing one point after a 3-2 loss in the shootout. The match, held at Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews, NC on Sunday, August 18, 2024, saw a quiet first half before Crown Legacy FC forward Tyger Smalls opened the scoring in the second half with a run down the middle and a goal into the bottom right corner.

Chattanooga equalized late in the match, pushing it to penalties. Despite goalkeeper Chituru Odunze making two saves during the shootout, Crown Legacy FC was unable to secure an additional point.

The final score stood at Crown Legacy FC 1(2)-1(3) Chattanooga FC. This result places both teams with 33 points each in their respective standings; Crown Legacy FC holds an 8-7-5 record while Chattanooga stands at 7-7-7.

Crown Legacy FC will next travel north to face New York Red Bulls II on Sunday, August 25 at 7 p.m. ET.
