The Charlotte Hornets have reported that center Mark Williams has strained a tendon in his left foot during an offseason workout. As a result, he will not participate in the team's training camp and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Further updates on his condition will be provided as necessary.

Williams was the 15th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He has career averages of 10.1 points (64.2 FG%, 70.2 FT%), 7.9 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks over 62 games, with 36 starts across two seasons. Last season, he played in 19 games, all as a starter, averaging 12.7 points (64.9 FG%, 71.9 FT%), 9.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game.

Notably, Williams set a franchise record by making 18 consecutive field goals from November 4-8 and recorded a franchise-high of 15 offensive rebounds during an In-Season Tournament win against Washington on November 10.
