Hornets Sports & Entertainment has announced a new phase of support for those affected by Hurricane Helene in the Carolinas. The organization is focusing on both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts, which include a retail launch, volunteer food packing event, and various initiatives to drive donations. This follows the Charlotte Hornets Foundation's $1 million donation distributed between The American Red Cross and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

Starting October 8, "Carolina Strong" T-shirts will be available at the Hornets Fan Shop located at Spectrum Center. All net proceeds from these sales will go to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund and One SC Fund. These shirts were initially launched during Hurricane Florence in 2018 and will be worn by Charlotte Hornets players during warmups for home preseason games on October 6 against the New York Knicks and October 8 against the Miami Heat.

"Our thoughts are with everyone across the Carolinas – and the Southeast – who have been impacted by this devastating storm," said Shelly Cayette-Weston, President of Business Operations for Hornets Sports & Entertainment. "We’re doubling our efforts and working together with our local community and business partners to help as many people as we can, as quickly as we can through our various Carolina Strong initiatives."

In addition to selling T-shirts, Hornets Sports & Entertainment is organizing a food packing event in collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Staff, families, and members of the Hornets Hive Society will pack emergency food boxes on October 10 at the Charlotte Convention Center.

The organization will also use its platforms such as Bally Sports Southeast broadcasts, WFNZ radio, digital channels, social media, and in-arena branding to raise awareness about hurricane relief efforts. Public Service Announcements featuring LaMelo Ball and Grant Williams are available for media use.
