The Carolina Panthers have traded wide receiver Diontae Johnson to the Baltimore Ravens. The transaction, which took place on Tuesday, involves the Panthers sending Johnson along with a sixth-round pick to Baltimore in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Diontae Johnson, aged 28, has been leading the Panthers in receiving this season. Over seven games, he accumulated 30 catches for 357 yards and scored three touchdowns. However, he was absent from last week's game against the Broncos due to an oblique injury.
Johnson joined the Panthers in March following a trade with Pittsburgh involving players on expiring contracts. In that deal, cornerback Donte Jackson and a sixth-round pick were sent to Pittsburgh in return for Johnson and a seventh-rounder. The Panthers utilized that pick to draft linebacker Michael Barrett, who was later traded to the Seahawks for cornerback Mike Jackson. Mike Jackson has since started all eight games this season.
This latest trade allows the Panthers to bolster their draft assets by securing seven picks within the first five rounds of next year's draft. Their current draft portfolio includes one pick each in the first four rounds, three selections in the fifth round, and two seventh-round picks.
