Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) has announced that James R. Jordan, the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, will transition to a senior advisor role starting November 1. In this capacity, Jordan will focus on phase two of the Spectrum Center arena renovations and the construction of the new Hornets Performance Center. His involvement in these projects has been significant during his tenure with HSE. Additionally, he will continue as the NBA G League Owner Representative and participate in several NBA G League committees and boards.
“We want to thank James for all he has done for HSE over the last 11 years,” said Hornets Sports & Entertainment Co-Chairmen Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin. “James has been a tremendous help to both of us during our ownership transition, and played an important role during that time, including serving as interim president. He has been a driving force internally with the business side, the arena renovations and our soon-to-be constructed performance center. We truly appreciate his passion, commitment and exemplary leadership, and we feel fortunate that he will remain with the organization in an advisory capacity.”
Jordan's career at HSE includes several executive leadership roles over 11 years, including seven months as Interim President during the 2023-24 season. He also served as President of the Charlotte Hornets Foundation for several years, leading charitable efforts within the Carolinas. Before joining HSE in November 2013, Jordan was Director of Operations and Administration for EPS Corporation in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
His military service concluded with retirement from the United States Army in September 2006 after 31 years. His distinguished career included roles such as Command Sergeant Major for various airborne signal units supporting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
