The Carolina Panthers have taken a significant step in their commitment to developing talent and focusing on their running game by extending the contract of running back Chuba Hubbard. The extension, announced Thursday morning, secures Hubbard's position with the team through 2028.

General Manager Dan Morgan expressed his enthusiasm for retaining Hubbard, stating, "We are excited to sign Chuba to an extension and keep him in Carolina. He exemplifies everything we want on and off the field. Chuba is passionate about football, is productive and is committed to his teammates and winning."

Hubbard has been a key player for the Panthers this season, leading the team with six touchdowns, which ties his career-high. His performance includes two crucial touchdowns against the Saints last week, one of which was the game-winner in the fourth quarter.

Currently ranked fifth in the NFL for rushing yards with 665, Hubbard also holds top ten positions in both rushing first downs (33) and yards per attempt (5.00). Originally drafted in 2021 as a fourth-round pick, Hubbard was set to become a free agent at season's end. Securing his future with the team was a priority for Panthers management.

Morgan hinted at this development earlier when he mentioned on Wednesday: "We're definitely working towards some stuff right now that we're excited about."

Hubbard ranks sixth on the Panthers' all-time rushing list with 2,645 yards. He follows notable players such as Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Williams, Cam Newton, Christian McCaffrey, and DeShaun Foster. With this new contract extension, Hubbard has an opportunity to further ascend this list.
